The best media player ever!, May 13, 2011

I love my Hub. I actually have 2 of them and they play everything I throw at them. No problems whatsoever and setting them up was so simple, any non-technical person can do it. I bought one as soon as it came out and the second one, a month after. They are the best media players I ever had. Love the UI, love the features (especially adding movie info and artwork), and I love the streaming capabilities. Both devices are connected to my home network and I’m so pleased with their performance. They play every file from my media server with over 8TB of media and I can also use the streaming services like Netflix, Pandora, Blockbuster and others. I totally recommend getting the Hub until something better comes out. I’m even planning on buying a third one

I’m moving overseas and I wanted to take my DVD movie collection with me, without lugging 120 DVDs (with cases). The 1 TB internal drive holds (just) all 120 of my movies, with the “extra/bonus features” that are part of the DVD.

You have to download WD Discovery, then map the Hub’s drive. The procedure was pretty easy. However, the “Configure” option could not be performed, as the Hub’s password could not be recognized. But, I did the configuration at the Hub.
The IR remote leaves much to be desired, with exremely small print on button functions, but, when you’re operating the Hub, you’re using primarily just the right/left cursor and play and stop buttons. The only other thing on my wish list, would be an eSata connection, for a higher speed data transfer from an external HDD.
Overall, I’m very pleased.
